Waste Audit Officer

Already signed up to be a waste audit volunteer. Want a bit more responsibility and something better to put on your CV. Read on for more information.

When running the Annual University Waste Audit we require a group of enthused individuals who want to set up the audit and help run events on the day. Key responsibilities will include making sure the event is set up the night before and on the day, organising volunteers into groups on the day and co-ordinating groups throughout the day.

By volunteering for this more responsible role you will be given a bigger food voucher, a different certificate and have something better to put on your CV.

Waste Audit Volunteer

Want to make a big difference to the University but don’t know how to. Well read on for more information.

Each year we run a University Waste Audit to help manage our sustainable waste management system, but also to give volunteering experience for students - as well as some fun. Students will need to volunteer from 1 till about 4 on Wednesday 22nd February to help look through a sample of all the waste the Uni creates.

Before the audits begin, volunteers are given the training and information to carry out the audit in an efficient and safe manner. The audit is extremely important to the Uni and enables it to work out the overall recycling rate and also key areas for improvement.

And if digging through waste wasn’t enough of a reward in itself, there will be food vouchers for all volunteers, a certificate and the team who wins (team who does the most amount of work) will win some prizes. Finally it’s also a very good bit of experience to put on your CV especially if you want to work in the environmental field or the third sector.

Radio Drama - Voiceovers, Script Writers and Story line Contributors

Awaaz Radio is making a radio drama for the local community. We are looking for volunteers to act in the role of voiceovers, script writers and story line contributors. The drama is similar to shows such as The Archers, Eastenders or Coronation Street. The show will contain topics such as Domestic Violence, Forced Marriages, Drugs and Community Festivals.

All the roles are voluntary and times are flexible to suit. Recording will take place at the Awaaz studio at agreed times within the group. The drama is designed to be ongoing for a year with two episodes each week and each episode will be new and different to the previous one.

The drama will be in English and Asian language, so you do not have to be fluent in Asian languages but must have a passion for a good storyline!

Individuals from any background can be involved in this role, but it is essential that you have a strong interest in media and radio production.

This is a great opportunity for you to gain experience within the media for anyone looking to work in this field.
