Community Volunteering

Rewards and Recognition

Excellence in Volunteering Awards (EVAs)

The Excellence in Volunteering Awards is our annual and prestigious awards ceremony that recognises students involved in any type of voluntary activity across the Students Union. These activities could be; volunteering with Community Volunteering, taking part in RAG’s (Raise and Give Department) fundraising activities, being an active member of your Society or School, working with the Media department or through just being a hands-on JCR.

Once the categories are finalised you (…the student) can vote for who you think should win an award. All shortlisted nominees (and their friends) are then invited along to witness who the winners will be at our red-carpet event. It’s almost as good as the Oscars! Your peers, SUSU staff and Officers want to recognise students’ exceptional hard work and commitment with these awards and being a finalist is a fantastic achievement, and it means you have made a massive contribution to your chosen volunteering activity…you never know, it could be you next time!

V-Involved

V, the national young volunteer’s service, is an independent charity that offers awards and recognition to volunteers, these are the vinspired awards! We work alongside Southampton’s vinvolved department so that we can offer these awards to you once you have volunteered.

The vinspired awards recognise the time you commit, the skills you develop and the difference you make through your volunteering. The scheme has been designed to boost your CV by showing employers (…and others) clear evidence of what you’ve achieved as a volunteer. It has already won backing from high-profile business leaders, such as Dragon’s Den star James Caan.

The awards that are available are;

Graduate Passport

The Graduate Passport is an achievement record that recognises and rewards students who take part in extracurricular activities, such as volunteering! Volunteering helps you accumulate points towards your Graduate Passport. Important note to ALL students: The Graduate Passport is NOT associated with the UK visa process and will not contribute to any Tier 4 Visa applications.

CV Certificates

These are our very own Community Volunteering certificates! Anyone who volunteers is eligible to have one. All you have to do is fill out the log of hours form and email this into us at volunteering@soton.ac.uk. As simple as that.
