Jenna, Kim and Anna are based in the Students’ Union, and oversee the Community Volunteering department. The Students’ Union staff will pick up all your enquiries, questions and queries, and will be able to help you take part in a volunteering opportunity or a Student Led Project. They are also the main point of call for the one off events that are run by Cecily and Emily in the Students’ Union (see below for more info).

Karen and Florence are based in Career Destinations, a department of Student Services which supports students with everything career-related. Karen delivers volunteer training, and Florence manages our placements and organisations, and they also coordinate some of our ongoing projects (such as SUFAT and Uni-Cycle). If you intend to work with children, young people, vulnerable adults, the elderly or animals, you may need a CRB (Criminal Record Bureau) check, which Career Destinations will also be able to provide for you.

Cecily is our Community Volunteering Student Officer based in the Students Union. She has been elected by you (…the students) to be your support and representative throughout your volunteering experiences. Cecily runs all the Community Volunteering social events, helps out at EVERY event possible, supports students with their ‘Student Led Projects’ and basically assists in the running of the department.

Despite her demanding role looking after all the Societies and the Welfare of the students, Emily is very much a part of the Community Volunteering team. She’s one of the Sabbatical Officers (…the big cheese’s) based in the Students Union. Emily has a very active role within the team and works a great deal alongside Jenna and Cecily running the events and the Student Led Projects. She helps the team make all the important departmental decisions and ensures that we always have the student voice within our work.
