Thinking of getting involved in the Students' Union and running for a positon in the elections? Below is some extra information aboout the election process to give you some guidance of what to expect!
Money you can spend on any allowed election materials. Make sure to keep your receipts, you can then claim the costs back from us during the election period.
Money you can spend on extra allowed election materials if you wish. We can't refund this, but will keep a close eye on it. All costs will be displayed online for all to see.
We provide a media pack of different ways you can advertise yourself within the Students' Union, such as plasma screen ads. This money can't be used for anything else.
Whatever position you choose to stand for you do have to be a registered student when you stand. The seven Sabbatical Officers, the Ethical & Environmental Officer, the Equality & Diversity Officer and the four Student Trustees become Trustees of the Students' Union and this comes with certain obligations and restrictions.

In addition, Trustees cannot hold any other office or position within the Union, so if you're elected and you currently work as support staff, you will not be able to carry on this work once your term of office as a Trustee begins (1 July 2017).
Nominations are confidential until the official announcement of candidates. The only people who have access to any draft or submitted nominations are the Elections staff, the Deputy Returning Officer and Returning Officer, and any Sabbatical Officers on the Elections Working Group (who will not be running or supporting any candidates). Until the official announcement, this information is considered confidential within the organisation and is not shared with other officers or members of staff.
