Your manifesto will be displayed online on the SUSU Elections website www.susu.org/elections. Your manifesto is your chance to tell everyone your plans for the position you're running for and to really set yourself apart from the other candidates - you need to tell people why they should vote for you!
You are limited to 500 words for your manifesto if you are running for a Sabbatical or Student Leader position. Union Councillors are limited to a 100 word personal statement. This doesn't mean you have to write that many words, just that you can't write more!
Please bear in mind the following when writing your manifesto:
SUSU will supply every Sabbatical candidate with 50 A3 posters and Student Leader candidates with 20 A3 posters pre-printed with a SUSU footer. Union Councillor candidates will be provided with 5 A4 posters. You may print your own design on these posters provided the SUSU footer remains intact.
In addition to the promotional pack supplied to you by SUSU, Sabbatical candidates may spend a further £30 and Student Leader candidates may spend £5 on their election campaign. Union Councillor candidates do not have a budget.
Unlike the Sabbatical Elections, there is no Media Pack on offer to candidates due to the reduced budgets available. However, you are free to spend your budget on whatever you like.
Your budget breakdowns must be submitted online and will be viewable by everyone (please note there will be a 24 hour delay in approved budget requests appearing publicly).
The Returning Officer also has the ability to adapt the costings you supply. It is important to keep your receipts, as you will need to provide these to claim the money back from your budget. For more details please see Section 8 of the Rules.
Candidates need to budget for their campaign, including publicity. All Sabbatical candidates have a £30 budget, and Student Leader candidates have a £5 budget.
The SUSU Media & Resources Room is available for all candidates (and students to use). It's fully equipped with PCs and Macs which all run Photoshop, Illustrator and other design software. Final Cut Pro is also available.
The Media & Resources Room is located on Level 2, Building 40 on the Highfield Campus. It's open 09:00 - 17:00 on weekdays
