Biological Sciences Society

Welcome to BioSoc, the society for all students studying a Biological Sciences degree! The main aim of our society is to create a cohesive, vibrant, and supportive community within the School of Biological Sciences, ensuring every student feels valued and well-adjusted to university life. To do this, we run the following activities throughout each academic year:

Socials: From pub crawls to Winter and Summer Balls, our socials are great opportunities to meet new people on your course.

Welfare Sessions: University can get stressful and a bit much, and this is why we run welfare sessions on a regular basis. So whether you come just for a casual chat, a nice hot tea or coffee, the biscuits and chocolate snacks (and the occasional freshly baked cake), or career/life advice from the older (and sometimes wiser) students or lecturers, rest assured you will feel more at ease after coming!

Parenting Scheme: If you are a fresher starting off your degree, you will be allocated a tutor group and two current students who will be your 'BioSoc Parents'. They are there to offer more casual advice about student life (you know, the things you wouldn't bring up with lecturers) and support you throughout your first year and beyond!

Careers Fair: Network with potential employers and gain valuable information regarding summer placements and postgraduate opportunities.

Intramural Sports Teams: Compete in the intramural leagues with our associated Girl's Netball Team, Men's Football Team, Men's Rugby Team, and Mixed Hockey Team. Please get in touch with us via email or social media if you'd like more information on a particular team.
