Brass Band

We are a friendly, non auditioned group of brass players who gather once a week to rehearse for concerts and annual events including the University Brass Band Championships (aptly named UniBrass).

Welcome to SUBB - Southampton University’s Brass Band! We are a group of enthusiastic and friendly students and alumni who meet every Sunday night! SUBB was founded in 2007, and just celebrated it’s 15th anniversary. We play a very wide range of music, and the difficulty of our repertoire varies (sometimes significantly!) from piece to piece. We like a challenge!
One of the highlights of our year is competing at UniBrass, a competition for university brass bands. We will be heading to Warwick to compete in the shield section in February 2024. Watch our award-winning performance from UniBrass 2020 or find us on youtube

Rehearsals are 7-9:30 on Sunday evenings in the the plant pot during term time, and have a relative relaxed atmosphere. Any brass or percussion player is welcome (and encouraged!) to join us, however we do also hold auditions for our principal seats towards the start of the academic year. We also have plenty of socials throughout the year. If you're interested  in joining and want more information, send us a message! Email: subband@soton.ac.uk, Facebook: /SUBrassBand  Instagram: /subrassband

If you are new: Fell free to contact us by message or email and watch the SUSU Welcome Week schedule for our welcome events, and don't forget to bring your instrument and music stand with you to Southampton!

SUBB Love x
