Cameroon Catalyst

Founded at the University of Southampton, Cameroon Catalyst is a student driven charity which implements infrastructure projects in rural Cameroon which encourage sustainable development. Students fund raise, design and help build the projects in rural Cameroon and over the past ten years the projects completed include a health centre, a school, solar electrification hub, and more recently a series of wells that provide clean water to villages in the region. While the team are supported through a team of qualified trustees, Cameroon Catalyst provides a fantastic opportunity for students wanting a taste of international development charity work. Whether organising fundraising events, designing and building the project or helping promote the work of the charity through media, there is a role for everyone to get great experience. Our current focus is on water and sanitation, as 50% of rural Cameroonians lack access to safe drinking water. We are therefore currently planning a number of news wells to be installed in remote villages to help relieve this issue and provide thousands of people with this basic human right.
