Course Rep

To represent students on the same course as you, become a Course Rep! Liaise with University staff about the ideas and concerns of your course mates, and make real change happen.

School President

School Presidents are the lead academic rep for your School. You'll help and support the Department Presidents and Faculty Officers, and encourage collaboration between Schools and Departments.

Department President

Department Presidents are the lead academic rep for your Department. You'll manage representation within your Department and organise and lead the Course Reps within your Department.

Faculty Officer

Faculty Officers are the senior academic reps in their faculty, reporting in to the Union's VP Education and Democracy.

Postgraduate Research (PGR) Officer

Our PGR Officers work together to represent Postgraduate Research students to SUSU and the University.

Halls Officer

The Halls Officer works to represent the needs and interests of students living in halls accommodation. They act as a liaison between students and the University, and work with SUSU to ensure that the student experience in halls is the best that it can be! To apply for the role, you must have experience of living in UoS halls.

Joint Honours Officer

As the Joint Honours Officer, you will be responsible for representing all Joint Honours students. You'll be a key point of contact between Joint Honours students and SUSU. This might mean seeking out their feedback on issues that might affect them, promoting relevant events or activities, or just being a visible point of contact.

LGBTQ+ Officer

The LGBTQ+ Officer works to represent the needs and interests of LGBTQ+ students at Southampton. This includes working with societies and community groups to support and promote the interests of LGBTQ+ students across all our sites. To apply for the role, you must be a student who identifies as belonging to the LGBTQ+ community.

Performing Arts Officer

The Performing Arts Officer works to represent the interests of SUSU’s affiliated Performing Arts societies at Southampton. You'll work with teams at SUSU and the University to help promote the Arts and Creative Industries. To apply for the role, you must have experience of being a member of a Performing Arts society or similar.

Sports Participation Officer

The Sports Participation Officer works to represent students who take part in sport while studying. This includes working to drive participation in sports across all our sites. You will also work with teams at SUSU and the University to help promote sports at Southampton.

Volunteering and Fundraising Officer

The Volunteering and Fundraising Officer has a leading role in representing students who take part in volunteering and fundraising activities while studying. This includes working with societies to support and promote the work of students across all our sites. To apply for the role, you must have experience of volunteering or fundraising.

Team Southampton Sports Officer

The Team Southampton Sports Officer works to represent SUSU’s affiliated sports clubs. You will also help promote campaigns and activities within sports at Southampton. In order to apply for the role, you must have experience of being a member of a sports club (or similar).

Avenue Officer

The Avenue Officer works alongside the Union President and Faculty Officers to represent all students studying at Avenue Campus. To apply for the role, you must predominantly be based at Avenue campus.

Boldrewood Officer

The Boldrewood Officer works alongside the Union President and Faculty Officers to represent all students studying at Boldrewood Campus. To apply for the role, you must predominantly be based at Boldrewood campus.

NOCS Officer

The NOCS Officer works alongside the Union President and Faculty Officers to represent all students studying at NOCS Campus. To apply for the role, you must predominantly be based at NOCS.

UHS Officer

The UHS Officer works alongside the Union President and Faculty Officers to represent all students studying at UHS Campus. To apply for the role, you must predominantly be based at UHS.

WSA Officer

The WSA Officer works alongside the Union President and Faculty Officers to represent all students studying at WSA Campus. To apply for the role, you must predominantly be based at WSA.

Sustainability Faculty Representatives

Want to champion Sustainability at SUSU and the University? Become our next Sustainability Faculty Rep!

The Sustainability Faculty Representative (SFR) works within their respective faculties to raise student concerns regarding faculty specific sustainability issues.

They report directly to our Sustainability Officer and are responsible for gathering student feedback on sustainability, liaising with their designated university staff contact, and lobbying the university to engage in more sustainable practices.

Senator

Our Union Senate is the committee that holds the Sabbatical Officers and their Student Officers accountable to their plans for the year. Senate also reviews the actions of the Sabbatical Officers to ensure they are representing students effectively.

We have 16 elected Senators who sit on this committee. As a Senator your focus is primarily on accountability and transparency.

Chair of Senate

Our Union Senate is the committee that holds the Sabbatical Officers and their Student Officers accountable to their plans for the year. Senate also reviews the actions of the Sabbatical Officers to ensure they are representing students effectively.

The Chair of Senate sits on this committee, and their focus is primarily on accountability, transparency and ensuring the smooth running of Senate.

Nominations are open in our Autumn Elections from Monday 25 September at 09:00 until Wednesday 11 October at 16:00.

Yes! All the roles you can run for in our Autumn Elections are part-time, volunteer roles. This means you can be a Rep, Officer, Senator or Chair of Senate alongside your studies.

There will be times throughout the year where you may be called on to help promote SUSU campaigns, and there will be key meetings you must attend.
