4. Officer and student leader reports

Jess (Community & Volunteering Officer) went through attached report for Community & Volunteering - Student volunteering week, Volunteering Forum, and volunteer case studies mentioned.

Issy (RAG President) spoke about improving relationship with Sports teams and two events done with them; Naked Calendar and Gunge a Captain (Children in Need). Hoping to continue this into future events, especially RAG Week (previously The BIG Give). Movember raised over £2k. Breastival was a success and had a good collaboration with MuSoc and The Edge. Really struggled with ticket sales and wondered if there was a way around this. Scott McCarthy (Chief Exec) advised that all departments are undergoing same difficulties and it seems to be a change in peoples spending habits.

Serban (Enterprise Officer) not available to attend the Committee meeting. Dan (VP Engage) covered enterprise activity later in meeting.

5. Student Led Fundraising

RAG Week is organised for 6th-12th February and will be based on the 90 years of RAG theme. There will be 5 main events, incl. Take Me Out, a stretcher bar crawl, Mixology, Enigma, and Soton Maze treasure hunt. All spaces in Union are booked and designs have been received by Marketing dept.

Open invite for any student groups that want to get involved. Please contact Southampton RAG via Facebook or email (rag@susu.org)

6. Student Enterprise Activity

Dan (VP Engage) gave update on the enterprise activity:

- Enterprise Fund being split between two projects and matchfunded by President: EthiCo and FuseMind.  Improved success on previous year, with 11 applications, 5 shortlisted, and 2 winners.

- Project Crowdfund projects will be supported differently from originally planned. They will receive support on Hubbub for a month in February, rather than one night only. This will encourage more awareness and funding from other sources.

- Pop Up market had 100% of stallholders turn up. Looking into a Pop Up market at West Quay and WSA next term.

- Global Entrepreneurship Week improved on last year with all stakeholders taking responsibility for their activity etc.

7. Volunteering

Student Volunteering Week (20th-27th Feb) - need to improve marketing in run up to the event. Planning a fayre on the Monday of SVW and Jess (C&V Officer) will be in contact with student groups re: involvement.

8. External Engagement Zone - General

Badges - originally were planned to reward volunteering, but are now planned to reward employability and soft skills. Will be trialling this on student leaders in the new year.

You Make Change - none submitted to Zone.

International Volunteering - No current rules about who BAM allow on the Union's commercial spaces, so a number of questionable international volunteering companies have been recruiting. No way of changing this year's contract with BAM, but next one will be signed in June. Need to ensure that it states 'no international volunteering opportunities that clash with Student Group activity'. Scott McCarthy advised that we have the right of refusal, but this isn't coordinated.

Name change - Cameron (VP DCI) came to talk about External Engagement Zone receiving Halls as part of their Zone. Discussion about change of zone name to fit all areas better (community involvement, fundraising, volunteering, enterprise, employability, and halls).

Words that were floated:

- Participation

- Outreach

- Opportunities

- External development

- Enrichment

- Developing relations

- Partnerships

Name of zone should be decided by next Senate (Feb/March)

Co-option - Rebecca Clements (SchoolsPlus Project Leader for The Hub) into the Zone - sent Rebecca Google Form to sign up.
