2. Minutes from the last meeting

Minutes from the last meeting were approved.

3. Matters arising from the last meeting

The action for international volunteering has been moved to the next meeting.

4. Officer & student leader reports

Issy read her report and Serban's was read on his behalf.

 

Jessica Parkes did not send a report.

5. Student led fundraising

Issy advised that RAG were happy that they won four awards at the EVAs And that the Lost99 event went well.  The amount raised from the event will not be known until all fundraising monye has been received and expense claims submitted.

 

Charlie ran thorough the plans for RAG training/handover on 9th & 10 June.

 

The RAG awards are on Saturday 10th May in Bar 2.  Voting is currently open to choose the three core charities for 2017/2018.  Karen to send voting form to all other clubs and societies.

 

RAG Conference planning is still underway.  Dan to reschedule the cancelled catch-up meeting.

 

On Thursday evening there will an info-meeting for RAG Conference volunteers, followed by a BBQ.  Issy will send the link to the info-meeting event to Karen to send to charity societies.

6. Student enterprise activity

Future world held a Drangon's Den style event in the Cube.

7. Volunteering

Dan asked the question: 'What should the Union do to support volunteers?'

Suggestions included:

- skills sessions through the year

- networking event where charity societies can meet and share skills/ideas

- training more likely to be attended if it is in person at a specifice place/time, rather than online

- beginning of year meet & greet event for charity and volunteering societies

- volunteer of the month - a team made up from society presidents to decide from nominations

- rewards for number of hours volunteered

- log volunteer hours and get instant rewards at certain levels

- Linkedin badges

8. External Engagement Zone general

19 of the 43 external engagement societies attended the zone briefing.  There will be a mini zone conference held after Freshers which will have more detailed information.

9. Any other business

Learning & Development team have requested training ideas for the external engagement zone.

Ideas included:

- charity law

- volunteer management

- entrepreneaurship skills

- fudraising ideas

 

Karen advised that she has compiled an A-Z of fundraising ideas and will send it to Kate.

 

The Community & Volunteering Officer role has not been filled in the recent elections.  A by-election will need to be held for this.
