The University of Southampton Students’ Union (SUSU) exists to unlock the potential and enrich the life of every one of our 23,000 student members. We are a registered charity with a £7M turnover and provide a comprehensive platform of offers, support, representation, services and spaces for our members to enhance the overall University experience across a number of campuses.

The Winchester School of Art (WSA) is our largest external campus based on student numbers and we are creating the position of Manager to organise, manage and facilitate SUSU operations for the almost 1,500 students who are based there. Recognising that WSA students have individual preferences, we are looking for a self-starter, who can analyse and assess the students’ needs and provide a targeted offer of the best of everything we do to ensure maximum engagement and interactivity with the student body.

The Manager will work closely with the Sabbatical and Senior Staff Leadership teams to tailor our overall strategic plan to the WSA situation to promote the greatest engagement. There will be a strong liaison element and a knowledge of students’ unions and, ideally, an understanding of what SUSU offers, will be a requirement for the successful candidate.

The key areas of operation will be strategic and operational planning, student activities, entertainment, facilities, advice and representation, democracy and communications/promotions.

The successful candidate will be comfortable serving as a project manager, problem solver and lead administrator for the Union at WSA. In general a high calibre individual who can bring the best of SUSU services and offers to the Winchester campus.

This is a fantastic opportunity if you are a self-starter and want to have a real impact in a challenging environment, can create and manage various projects from conception to implementation, and have a passion to be an important part of SUSU’s continued growth while making a real difference to the lives of our students.
