Implement outside charging units

Complete
In the summer months, when the weather is sunny, it is nice to work outside on campus. However, the limited battery life on laptops means that we are forced to chain ourselves to a library desk in hope of a plug. Sitting on the grass, watching my battery life drain away and resigning myself to the rest of the day in a crowded and hot library, I found myself wishing there were electricity units outside. Can we change this?

Hi Emily,
I'm back with a bit of an update. I've had a quick chat with our Head of Union Services and this sort of change would be firmly in the remit of the University. The health & safety concerns might deter them a bit, but we'll definitely mention it when we next meet with Estates and Facilities to see what they say.
I'm going to close this You Make Change submission for now, but will re-open it if there are any further updates.
All the best,

Hi Emily,
Thanks for getting in touch! This might be a little tricky to make happen, but I'll ask the question and see what we can do! Worth adding that we also have our securing charging boxes in the Cafe (keys at Reception, I believe!) where you could leave your laptop to charge for a bit on a warm day like today.
All the best,
