Benjamin Dolbear

Avenue Officer

Key Points

  • I will push for an UG social Common Room on Avenue Campus
  • I will fight for access to cheaper food at Avenue Cafe
  • I will pursue entrenched prioritisation of Avenue rooms to Humanities students
  • I will ensure that SUSU and the University divert resources from, for example, Enabling Services, to Avenue Campus
  • I will engage in discussions to extend opening hours for Avenue Library and study areas

Having served as Arts & Humanities Faculty Officer for the academic year 2018/19, I have a great deal of experience fighting for causes important to Humanities students, including pushing for free printing credit, greater accessibility to our PATs, and entrenched prioritisation of Avenue rooms for Humanities students. As Avenue Officer, these are projects that I will continue to pursue with the new Sabbatical team and academic staff, both groups with which I have built valuable connections during my tenure as Faculty Officer. If I am elected as Avenue Officer, I will continue to push for an improved Avenue Library, protection of the current, broad range of module choices for all Humanities degrees based at Avenue, and an improved social and academic student experience for all students studying at Avenue Campus.
