Philosophy Department President

Key Points

  • Build conversation between staff and students
  • Work towards bettering the communication between year groups
  • Develop on the hard work of our Course Reps
  • Improving overall student experience, not just one specific group
  • Embrace new challenges to grow as a Department

I am an enthusiastic and involved member of the Philosophy community, as I am so passionate about not just a subject, but more so as a community between the staff and students. My dedication to this community has been demonstrated through my role as Course Representative for the past two years, as well as being part of the Philosophy Society committee. My roles as Social Secretary for the 2018/19 period and currently as Vice President have taught me a lot about teamwork and pushing to make change, and both of these things, to me, are integral for being a successful Department President.

I love being as involved as I am and I strive to improve the overall university experience for as many people as possible. In the role of Department President, I feel I would be able to really reach out to the other year groups and learn how we could benefit them and make change that best suits their needs. As well as this, I think it is absolutely imperative to build a consistent level of communication between staff and students so that each and every aspect of our Philosophy degrees is as amazing as it can be and Department President appears to be the best opportunity to achieve this.
