Our AGM is coming up! This is a very important time where we will vote and decide our committee members for next year.

Do you want to gain experience in planning and running events, gain the extra credit that comes with being part of a volunteering committee and overall just have fun helping with conservation work? Well then we would love for you to join our committee for 2022! We understand that it has been hard for you to gain the full SUCV experience this year due to COVID, however we hope to be back to normal next year!

We will be running our AGM on April the 18th at 8PM. Even if you don't plan on joining the committee, we would love for you to come along.

Simply click here to join on the day.

If you would like to join our committee, all you need to do is join the meeting on the day and state the roles you would like to elect yourself for. You can also fill out the optional form here. This is not required, but we would appreciate it as it gives us an idea of the number of people we can expect.

Thank you for reading! We hope to see slot of you on the day!

Any issues, send us an email.

Available Committee Positions:

President (Required):
You will be the public face of the society, write the weekly e-mail, and manage the rest of the committee to make sure the society runs smoothly. You need to know what everyone is (and should be!) doing.

Treasurer (Required):
You will look after the finances of the society, and invoice site managers. Also deals with insurance.

Secretary (Required):
Handles our social media, organising meetings, and communicating with other society's when necessary.

Task Manager:
Handles looking for new tasks and communicates with third parties to book these potential events.

Residential Officer/Social Officer:
Deals with booking and managing residential trips during term time and potentially the summer holidays. Manages possible socials that we may want to run.

General Committee Member:
If you want to join our committee but don't want any specific role, you can join as a general member. This involves simply being there during tasks and being able to help students where they need it.

In addition there is a selection of responsibilities which may be split between the above roles, although some can become committee positions in their own right:

  • Organising merchandise

  • Organising transportation to tasks

  • Looking after our equipment

  • Health and Safety

  • Organising an international residential trip

  • Organising any joint-society events (fundraisers, tasks, socials)

  • Organising the hot drinks and biscuits each week,

Every committee member can run tasks, and should get to grips with the safety talk, safe tree felling, and some basic species ID (although no pressure here).

The Organisers

Conservation Volunteers (SUCV)

We run local conservation days on Sundays, restoring ecosystems and biodiversity around Southampton and Hampshire. We work with local nature reserves and wildlife trusts on heathland restoration, invasive plant removal, coppicing, tree planting, and much more- plus massive bonfires! Membership is free, along with free tea, coffee and biscuits on tasks, as well as a jacket potatoes if we have a bonfire! We also have socials, longer residential trips further afield every term and even occasional residentials abroad. We meet on Sunday mornings outside the SUSU Building between 9 and half 9, coming back at 4ish. Remember to join the mailing list and reply to task emails to let us know you're coming, or you may not get a place on the transport!
