How To Directory

Getting people to your event

When it comes to marketing an event, it is vital that you make the information as clear and simple as possible. It is useful to develop a checklist of information to include, in order to ensure you do not forget anything. This should include:

  • Title of event
  • Date and time of event
  • Location of event
  • Cost of event if applicable
  • Dress code if applicable
  • Call to actions (visit the website, buy tickets here, log on to our Facebook page etc.)
  • Twitter handle and Facebook URL
  • Additional cost of food or drink at the event
  • Relevant images
  • Your logo
  • SUSU logo
  • Any other logos if you are working in a partnership with anyone

In terms of ways to market your event, it is important to separate your event from others. Always keep your target audience in mind, and consider the best ways they would want to find out about an event.

Competitions work well to drive engagement and attendance to events, so consider ways you can get prizes to give away, and how you will do that. Like and share style competitions work well as it increases your social media presence. The better the incentive, the more awareness you will develop.

Be fun and creative with your event. Your unique selling points of the event should be the key marketing focus and will be the driving factor behind the whole campaign. Think about what people will get at your event that they won’t be able to get anywhere else and shout about it.
