Freshers' 2021/22 Update
Register for the Clubs & Societies Fair
The Clubs & Societies Fair will be taking place on Wednesday 29th September and Thursday 30th September 2021. It is an opportunity for affiliated clubs and societies of the Students’ Union to promote themselves to over 6,000 students who attend.
You will be allocated a stall for one of the specific days, after the deadline for applications (Sunday 5th September 2021). The Fair is spread across two days this year to help with social distancing and provide increased space for each stall. Clubs and societies will be located together by theme on any specific day (e.g. International & cultural societies; Indoor sports, etc).
You will be able to register for the Fair from tomorrow (Saturday 21st September 2021). You will need to submit an updated risk assessment and explain the nature of your stall on the day. To apply for a stall, please visit your Groups Hub page and complete the option under 'Forms'.
Club or Society Showcases during Freshers
This year we have allocated a range of opportunities within the Freshers calendar for club and society showcases. This could be on the Redbrick outside Building 42 or in the Plant Pot. If you are interested in a potential space, please complete this expression of interest form. We will be responding to all expressions of interest after Sunday 5th September (but no later than Monday 13th September).
Requests for one off Club & Society event bookings within the year
We have tried to allocate a significant amount of space to block bookings this year, but there are still opportunities to request one off events or activities. If you are looking to request a one-off event for your club or society during the year, then please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
Club & Society VIP Social
SUSU is putting on a free social for Committee members on the Wednesday night before Freshers (22nd September 2021)! The event will take place in The Cube and Below Deck.
We wanted to give you all a chance to catch up with each other and the SUSU team to kick-off Freshers!
More details will come out in due course, but to sign up for up to 4 free Committee tickets for the event, please visit here! Please only complete the form once for each club or society.
Booking tables in Union bars
If you are looking to request tables in one of the Union's bar spaces please contact email@example.com
Club and Society Pre-Freshers' Catch Up
We wanted to make sure we caught up with you all again in the lead up to Freshers, so we will be hosting a Club & Society Catch Up on Microsoft Teams on Monday 13th September from 1.00pm to 3.00pm. To attend the event please save the link here in your calendar!
Athletic Union Induction
We wanted to get a date in a diary for the Sports clubs to meet up with all the key members of staff at SUSU and Sport and Wellbeing. This induction will take place on Wednesday 22nd September 1.00 until 3.00pm in The Cube in Building 42. It would be great if each club could get 2 committee members to be present at the meeting. We are asking that clubs don’t bring more than 2 members to manage capacity.
Open Day sign-up
We are looking for clubs and societies to have an in-person presence during Open Days on Saturday 11th September and Sunday 12th September. Stalls will be on the Redbrick from 8.30am until 4.00pm showcasing the range of clubs and societies on offer.
For taking part, your club or society will receive £50 per day (£100 for both). If you are available and interested, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
SUSU recruiting now!
We are looking for students for a number of roles within or Social Enterprise team (including bars, catering and retail staff) and Entertainment Promotion Team. There will be opportunity for people during Freshers as well as throughout the academic year.
