Are you a budding journalist, TV presenter or radio host? Do you want to get involved behind the scenes of award-winning student media teams? Then you’re in the right place! At the Union we have four student media groups you can join, and you don’t need any previous experience to get involved. Through getting involved with our student media you can boost your CV and enhance your skills, as well as working with a fantastic team of students.
Broadcasting over the airwaves live during Freshers Fortnight and the lead up to the Students' Union elections, listening to Surge is a great way to keep updated on the latest new music and Union activities. With previous Surge DJs interviewing the likes of Frank Turner, Drenge, Wolf Alice, and The Maccabees, getting involved with the Surge means you could be meeting some top class bands for yourself.
If you're a budding journalist then sign up for the increasingly expanding News Team, bringing students weekly news bulletins on a range of relevant topical issues. If you see yourself as more of a music boff then sign up to become a regular radio DJ with your own show or join the Music Team where you will get to interview bands, run your own Surge sessions and get to go to gigs for free. If you're more of a whizz kid then you can get involved in production or join the Technical Team. You can get in touch with the Station Manager at email@example.com

SUSUtv is the Union's student-run TV station. Launched in 2007, it looks to build on your creativity and guide you through the processes involved in making high-quality television.
In 2010 SUSUtv set a new standard for all Students' Unions around the country as they became the first to broadcast elections night live in HD. Over 6200 people from over 24 different countries watched the elections live online, as your sabbatical team for 2010/11 were elected. The team reached unprecedented heights, leaving many amazed; Brighton Students' Union tweeted saying they were "absolutely astounded" by the quality of show.
SUSUtv is ultimately there for your use so if you have an idea for a show or want to get involved at any level simply e-mail the Station Manager at firstname.lastname@example.org
Don't see yourself as a media-tycoon? The aim is to make television about students, for students. So simply sit back and watch our shows online from the comfort of your student accommodation at www.susu.tv
Pick up your copy of the Wessex Scene from around the Union, or check out their website at www.wessexscene.co.uk. Interviews with porn stars, meeting the Prime Minister, and the latest gossip from Hollywood names and film premiers held on campus are all things the Wessex Scene got up to in recent years!
There's never been a better time to get involved, as this year's editorial team is initiating a pledge to publish work submitted on an online platform at minimum. E-mail email@example.com with your stories and work, or if you just want to find out more.
Not a writer? There is still a place for you - the Wessex Scene is always on the search for new talent. As well as writers, we are in need of photographers, designers, cartoonist and anyone with some spare time and a good idea for our next issue www.wessexscene.co.uk
The Edge is our very own entertainment magazine, covering everything from live music and film to gaming and TV, to entertainment news and reviews. The Edge has had the chance to interview bands such as Feeder, Alt-J, Bombay Bicycle Club and Tinie Tempah as well as getting press passes to Kaiser Chiefs and Frank Turner to name just a few of the great possibilities available. Additionally, our writers have had opportunities to attend music festivals such as Beach Break and Truck, as-well as film premieres for free. It really is an unparalleled opportunity that you can't miss!
With content produced both online and a copy on campus available periodically, getting your name in print can be a reality. You don't need prior writing experience to get started; no matter your style or talent as long as you're interested our editorial team will help you out along the way. And if you're not interested in writing, there is still a place for you in areas such as photography, distribution, publicity and design. If you want to get involved, email firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions, ideas or suggestions you have.
