MEMBERSHIP AND FINANCIAL
5. Membership matters

a. Election of Open Place Union Councillors

There are ten places available, and you can nominate yourself up until this point. Members of Union Council can vote.

b. Student representatives pool for Elections Working Groups

Members of Union Council interested in sitting on the Spring Elections Working Group should email democracy@susu.org . You cannot be on the group if you intend to run or support any candidate in the Spring Elections (which are for Sabbatical Officers, Student Leaders, Student Trustees and Union Councillors) There are two places available.

c. Medicine Faculty Officer

Proposals have been made to reform the structure of the Medical Society and bring it within SUSU as a Union Group. This could involve changing the representation of medical students on Union Council. The Spring Elections at present include the election of a Medicine Faculty Officer, but it may be that a new structure does not include this exact position. It is proposed to delay the election for this position, so that if any changes are made, any new position can be properly elected by the end of this term in the Summer Elections, allowing the whole structure to come into place for the start of the next academic year.

The power to alter the date of an election lies with Council under Rule 7, section 7.4.

  • Vote: To delay the election of the Medicine Faculty Officer until the Summer block of elections (during this academic year).

d. Permission to undertake outside employment (Sabbatical Officers)

Sophia d'Angelico (Vice-President Education) requests the permission of Council to take up employment with the Quality Assurance Agency as a Student Reviewer. More information about this role may be found on the QAA website.

  • Vote: That Sophia d'Angelico be authorised to take up employment with the Quality Assurance Agency as a Student Reviewer.
