  • The Athletic Union uses initiatives such as ‘Try it you might like it’ to encourage student participation, especially for those who do not already participate in sport
  • There have been no campaigns about the benefits of sport and exercise from SUSU to promote a healthy lifestyle and to reduce health risks such as obesity and high cholesterol
  • That the student body should be made fully aware of the benefits of exercising and the effects that exercise has on reducing stress, which students often incur due to exams
  • That the risk of problems such as obesity and heart disease are increasing rapidly throughout the UK and SUSU has a duty to students to educate them about methods to improve their health

  • Where possible, to run seminars for students regarding leading a healthy lifestyle and the social, physical and psychological benefits
  • To continue to provide a strong Sporting ethos and to continue to support Sport at Southampton University
