This policy was discussed at the following meetings:

  • The service provided by the Students’ Union Advice and Information Centre to all students including International Students
  • The Students’ Union Advice and Information Centre meets the requirements of good practice as set out by The Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC) and the Community Legal Service (CLS)
  • The sections of the Gribbon Report that the Union has had access too
  • The HEIST report, stating the excellent service provided by the International Student Advisers within SUAIC
  • The feedback from the iBarometer survey
  • Across the UK different institutions have different methods of providing a service to international students that suits their institution the best
  • That all students are entitled to independent advice from their Students’ Union
  • Specialist advice should be available to International Students
  • The sighted parts of the Gribbon Report recognise that SUSU has a proven level service
  • To continue to provide the specialist advice service for International Students
  • That there is further scope for collaborative working with the University that does not encroach upon our service hence mandating the relevant Sabbatical to work on this
