Top-Up Fees and Staff (0506P6)

Status: Lapsed | Zone: Creative Industries

Passed: 14/06/2010 | Lapsed: 14/06/2010

This policy was discussed at the following meetings:

  • That from 2006 the University of Southampton will charge £3000 to students from the UK, for the majority of its undergraduate courses
  • That University Staff Unions are demanding that a third of new fee money is spent on improving Staff salaries
  • That world class lecturers are a vital component of a world class education at Southampton University
  • That to recruit the best lecturers we have to pay them well but also give them access to world leading facilities
  • That students are paying increased fees and therefore will want to see value for money
  • That any increase in fees must result in an increased level of student experience, through investment in facilities and additional members of staff to reduce the staff-student ratio
  • To lobby the university to spend increased fee income on services and facilities that      will benefit students
  • Not to support any industrial action by any other Union which results in students at Southampton University being disadvantaged
Sorry, there are no Mandates for this policy
