This policy was discussed at the following meetings:

  • That the University runs courses on many other campuses than Highfield campus
  • That these include; Winchester; National Oceanography Centre; Avenue Campus; Southampton General Hospital; Isle of Wight; Basingstoke; Portsmouth and Eastleigh
  • That the main Students’ Union activity takes place at Highfield campus
  • That the Students’ Union should represent all students, so this should include students at sites.
  • That the Students’ Union often has a lack of presence at sites
  • That many students do not know of the help and support the Students’ Union offers for them due to lack of information
  • That the help and support the Students’ Union offers at Highfield campus should be offered at sites
  • That site surgeries help show the help and support offered to students from the Students’ Union
  • That site surgeries help the Students’ Union gather views on how to help students at sites
  • That site surgeries at NOC and Winchester have been well received
  • That as part of their role as executives, the executives of the Students’ Union should have a presence to show their commitment to helping and representing sites
  • To mandate the executive team to run one site surgery at least each semester at the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton General Hospital and Winchester School of Art
  • To mandate the executive team to try and run a site surgery at Isle of Wight, Basingstoke, Portsmouth and Eastleigh if practical and appropriate
