This policy was discussed at the following meetings:

  • The recent decision of Council to phase out courses including BSc (Hons) Sport Studies; BA (Hons) Managing and Developing Sport; Working with Children FdA (Foundation Degree) and Youth Work FdA (Foundation Degree)
  • The recent decision to stop Social Work Studies
  • The recent demonstration by students outside Building 37 due to the proposed course cuts
  • The inability of those in official SUSU capacity to support the demonstrations without a mandate
  • The inability to publicise the demonstrations without a mandate
  • The problem of gaining support when not term time
  • That course cuts are causing concern to many students
  • That students wish us as a Union to take visible action
  • That as a Union we should be able to support our members with issues of concern to them
  • That we should support reasonable action taken against course cuts
  • To support students in any reasonable action they take against course cuts.
  • To allow ‘reasonable action’ in point 1) be determined by the sabbatical officers
