Status: Lapsed | Zone: Trustee

Passed: 14/06/2010 | Lapsed: 04/02/2014

This policy was discussed at the following meetings:

  • The current issues experienced by the Venues Department relating to poor attendance by Union clubs and societies, and in turn students, to SUSU events That most union clubs, societies and JCR committees hold frequent social events at external venues throughout Southampton That profits made by SUSU events benefits students, in contrast to external venues where only management benefit That societies are given special offers and treatment at SUSU events, and on certain days are able to hire SUSU venues free of charge That many are not aware of these benefits or who to contact in order to get them That no SUSU venue has had any capital investment for four years
  • That SUSU venues and events offer good facilities and cater for a range of events (alcoholic or otherwise) That due to the support offered by the Union, both financially and through the provisions of facilities, clubs, societies, and JCR committees should try to give something back in return
  • That it will aim to increase footfall at Union venues That all SUSU clubs, societies and JCR committees, that regularly hold social events, should organise at least one social event per academic term at a SUSU venue (excluding The Stags) That the SUSU Venues Department / CMT will produce and provide each club, society and JCR Committee, with literature about what they can offer them and who to contact That the SUSU Venues Department works closely with each group, to help arrange special offers where possible, and keep track of which socials have been held That this motion be reviewed after a year to reflect the situation of SUSU events at that time
