Change machines in halls of residence (1415P11)

Status: Lapsed | Zone: Halls Committees

Passed: 16/02/2016 | Lapsed: 13/05/2015

This policy was discussed at the following meetings:

  • That the University does not currently have change machines installed at its halls of residence
  • That the receptions at halls of residence do not usually give change

  • That washing machines and tumble dryers do not give change and require the correct money
  • That students may require change for a variety of reasons
  • That doing laundry is essential to most students living in halls of residence
  • That it is inconvenient for students who do not have change to do laundry

  • Making it easier for students to be able to pay for their laundry will improve their halls experience
  • That it would be helpful to students living in halls of residence to have change machines installed in all halls of residence or another alternative method
  • There are other ways for students to pay for their laundry other than with cash for example Top Up Cards
  • To lobby the University of Southampton to install change machines at its halls of residence or look into alternative simpler methods than currently used for students to pay for their laundry
  • The VP Student Communities to ensure that this policy is being fulfilled
  • The VP Student Communities to update the Student Communities Zone on any progress that arises from this policy
