This policy was discussed at the following meetings:

  • That SUSU has over 300 Student Groups reflecting the diverse interests of its members
  • That Student Groups put on a variety of events throughout the year
  • That Student Groups are run by volunteers
  • That there is a procedure for booking Union space
  •  That Student Groups are the lifeblood of the Union, helping to unlock the potential and enrich the lives of students
  • That these groups should be given priority over external companies in terms of booking and using Union space and resources
  • From time to time the Union enters contracts with external companies that must be upheld 
  • To give Student Groups priority over external companies in terms of booking and using Union space and resources
     
  • To bring a further policy to the last Union Council of the 2015 calendar year to include the finer details of how this policy will work and be implemented  
  • The Union President, VP Democracy and Creative Industries, and Student Groups Officer to ensure that this policy is being continually upheld
  • The VP Engagement to look into the possibility of giving student companies priority over external companies when booking and using Union space
  • The VP Democracy and Creative Industries as part of the Student Groups Committee to create the policy outlined in Resolves 2
