This policy was discussed at the following meetings:

  • A rebrand of SUSU was discussed at Union Council 5 on 30th April
  • One of SUSU’s four values is student led
  • SUSU works to represent the Student Voice
  • Policy 1415P13 resolves “to engage in regular dialogue with our members, collecting suggestions and communicating progress, to improve their experience when using the Union”
  • Student Consultation is essential and necessary when making such a major decision
  • Any rebrand will have a significant impact on the Union
  • SUSU at its very core is student led therefore it is important for students to have their say in this decision and make their voices heard
  • That a rebrand of SUSU may be occurring
  • That a rebrand may include a rename
  • That if a rebrand is to occur- to ensure student consultation on any rebrand or rename, across all our sites, through a variety of methods including but not limited to: surveys, face to face consultation, “Have your say” style votes
  • To set-up a student led working group to provide regular feedback and be involved during every step of the rebranding process
  • Progress on the rebrand should be reported to every Union Council whilst it is happening
  • The final decision on both design and potential rename should be voted on and approved by Union Council
  • The Union President to ensure the creation of the working group
  • The Union President to ensure full and proper student consultation
