Hello!

I'm pleased to say that the Library have now replied to me, and have given the following response: 

Thank you for your feedback .  We have asked for further feedback from students following our introduction of paperclips.  This has all been very positive.  As a reminder we have also activated the stapling facility on all our printers on Level 2.  Single use staplers were unsustainable after the trial as they were constantly being broken and we were having to replace them on a weekly basis .

I hope that provides some clarity around your question, especially since stapling is still available using the printers on Level 2. Unfortunately the other staplers did have to be replaced quite a lot, and therefore are unlikely to make a return. I appreciate that this isn't an ideal outcome, but hopefully the alternatives mentioned above are of use.

Hello there!

Thanks for getting in touch. Staples (and indeed, staplers) have been something which the Library has had a great deal of trouble with over the past couple of years. From my memory staplers kept being broken, taken and generally misused, hence the shift towards paperclips now. I will, however, go back to the Library to get a bit more of the narrative from their side which I will publish here. 

It is also worth pointing out that the new Samsung printers in the Library do have finishing functionality, and can therefore staple things when they are being printed. Talk to the Library to find out more about that functionality!
