Whilst I appreciate the need for catering to dietary and cultural requests, and if someone want to be vegan sure thats their choice, how about a meat lovers section... although i personally like the odd vegan sausage etc I am sick of being cast into an outgroup of people who arent following the current trends and fashions..

Hi there,

Thank you for your You Make Change submission.

We absolutely appreciate not everyone is vegan or vegetarian and we are not trying to force people to be. For us, the creation of The Plant Pot is not just about catering to dietary needs of others, but also about reducing our carbon footprint. The meat and dairy industry has a hugely negative environmental and ecological impact due to the greenhouse gas emissions that is released in it's production and the reduction of natural biodiversity. Sustainability is something that is hugely important to us as a Students' Union and so we want to ensure we are doing our part to have a more positive impact on the planet by reducing our offering of meat and dairy.

However, there are still meat options available in all of our other outlets (The Shop, the Bridge and The Stags') for anyone who chooses to eat meat.

Kind regards,

Emily Harrison,
