Shuttle bus to NOC
I know it's been asked for before but I really think it's something that needs to be seriously looked at and hopefully the new people in charge will be able to help, but I think it's crucial that a shuttle bus is put on between NOC and Highfield. I like near Highfield campus and it's takes me an hour to get to NOC, I have lectures and practicals there everyday meaning I lose 2 hours everyday travelling which is time I could be studying!
I know the obvious response is well move closer to NOC and last year I did live closer in the polygon but I didn't feel safe in this area and also it was dangerous when coming back at night from Society events on campus and thus I felt isolated from other students! I really think that this is something that you need to look into seriously NOC students commuting from Highfield lose 10 hours a week of studying time (2hours X 5 days) and it's not fair! Coupled with the fact that busses to NOC in peak hours are often full meaning we have to get even earlier busses or are late to lectures

The reroute will be taking place from February and will last approximately 6 months. It is predicted that this shift will save between 10-15 minutes of the journey time down to NOCS due to avoidance of traffic, lights, and coming to a stop at the station. With this change, the U2C will now serve as the main transportation route to the station. If this is favorable, the change to the U1C will likely become permanent. However, this is all based on how much time the reroute actually saves.
Due to this now being actioned with a timeline set I will be closing this submission. If you have any further questions please feel free to make another submission or email me directly at president@soton.ac.uk

Hi,
I have been informed that there is a trial reroute of the U1C at the moment that doesn't have it stopping at Central Station. At the moment this is due to road works. However, if there is significant time saved for NOCS transport there will be consideration of confirming this as the new route.

Hi,
Following my meeting with the Vice-Chancellor, this project has been handed over to the University's Senior Executive Director of Student Experience and Deputy Vice President Operations, as well as the University's transportation team. As I am sure you can appreciate, this is a large piece of work for the University to conduct with a high rate of consultation necessary, so project turn over may be slightly slow on this one. I will provide an update as soon as available.

Hi,
Unfortunately, I was unable to meet with the Executive Director of Student Experience due to sudden absence. Instead, I will be raising this directly with the Vice-Chancellor in our Quarterly meeting on the 17th of November. I recognise that this is a bit delayed. However, to address this issue properly I believe this is the best course of action.

Hi,
Thank you for your submission!
The University is keen to launch an investigation into transport to "satellite" campuses, such as NOC, in its Student Experience Programme Board. However, I have a meeting with the chair of this board, the Executive Director of Student Experience, coming up. I will be raising this with him at this meeting and provide an update as soon as I can following it.
All the best,
Oliver Murray
