Complete

It would be much easier to find buildings you haven't been in before if you could do it entirely from your calendar rather than going through the university app or finding a map!

Hello again!

Your You Make Change has been live for a few weeks now, allowing voting and commenting to take place. As this is a fairly long-term project for the University I'm going to close this submission for now, but with the intention of re-opening it should there be any further updates.

Thank you for the submission, and all the best in the future!

Thanks again,

Samuel Dedman (VP Education 2017-19, vpeducation@susu.org)

Hello again!

I sat down with a member of University staff yesterday to discuss wayfinding and navigation around campus, and it uncovered an interesting project being led by them to improve signage around campus. This doesn't relate to Google Maps specifically, but would see greater integration between physical and digital forms of navigation and thus make life a little easier when exploring the University of Southampton estate.

I hope that is useful as an update. Either way I'll leave this You Make Change live for a little bit longer for commenting and voting!

All the best,

Samuel Dedman (VP Educaiton 2017-19, vpeducation@susu.org)

Hello!

Thanks for getting in touch, and for your suggestion. I'm actually due to meet with a member of the University's Estate & Facilities Team to discuss wayfinding around our campuses and this seems directly relevant to that. I'll bring it up as part of that conversation and will see how things proceed from there. I should add, however, that the University is beginning to look at developing our own internal mapping (https://maps.southampton.ac.uk/) over the coming months, using data derived from OpenStreetMap to power it. I admit that this isn't Google Maps, but hopefully you find that tool useful!

In the meantime your idea submission is now live for voting on the SUSU website. I'd encourage you to share it around as much as you can, as the more votes it has the more evidence we have to lobby the University with.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

All the best,

Samuel Dedman (VP Education, 2017-19)
