5. Membership matters

a. Election of Open Place Union Councillors

If you would like to stand to be a Union Councillor, you can nominate yourself up until this point.

  • Election: Members of Union Council can vote.

b. Resignation of a member of Council

Roberto Gregoratti has resigned from his position as Union Councillor. 

c. Removal of members of Council

The following members of Council are proposed to be recalled, as they have missed more than six meetings this year:

  • Emily Shepherd
  • Vote: To recall Emily Shepherd as Nightline Officer.

d. Election of members of Union Council to Zone Committees

The following vacancies exist for members of Union Council to sit on Zone Committees. Some places were previously filled by Councillors whose terms ended in January - although they may have been re-elected, a fresh election will be held for their places on Zone Committees.

  • Democracy Zone Committee (1, or 2 if Emily Shepherd is recalled at item 5c)
  • Education Zone Committee (1, if Emily Shepherd is recalled at item 5c)
  • Sustainability Zone Committee (1)
  • Creative Industries Zone Committee (1)
  • Student Life Zone Committee (1)
  • Election: Members of Union Council can vote.

e. Permission to undertake outside employment (Sabbatical Officers)

Megan Downing requests the permission of Council to undertake outside employment with Inkpact Marketing. They were founded as a student enterprise here at the University of Southampton and she has been offered work with them doing various pieces of copy writing, hand writing, social media, and writer management. The work averages at about 2 hours per week, outside her working hours at the Union.

  • Vote: Megan Downing be authorised to take up employment with Inkpact Marketing.
