The Role
The University of Southampton Students’ Union has 140+ student sports clubs that cater to a range of standards, from beginners through to high performance athletes. Our teams compete in a range of leagues and fixtures, including British University & College Sports and Inter-Mural Leagues under the banner of Team Southampton.
The Sport Coordinator will work in conjunction with other SUSU Activities staff to support our sports clubs to deliver an outstanding experience to their members. They will take key responsibility for overseeing and supporting clubs with health and safety and club development while acting to drive improvements of club activities and events including administering fixtures, facilities, finance, training, and a wide range of administrative processes.
About You
This role requires a large volume of administrative support to clubs and serves as a point of contact for committee members. We are looking for an approachable, enthusiastic person who can effectively communicate, engage, and establish relationships with our students to increase engagement and improve their university experience. A ‘can-do’ flexible attitude is needed in this fast-paced, diverse student-led environment.
We are looking for a highly organised individual who is proactive about ensuring they have up to date knowledge of sector relevant information and best practice and who is able to problem-solve and effectively manage multiple projects.

Venues Supervisor

The Role
Are you ready to bring your leadership skills to the heart of student life? Join our vibrant Venues Team at SUSU! As a Venue Supervisor, you’ll oversee exciting shifts at our popular outlets – Stag’s, The Bridge, and Below Deck. You'll lead a team of up to 5 staff members, ensuring they deliver top-notch service in a fun and dynamic environment.
No Personal License? No problem! We'll support you through the process to make sure you’re up to speed with licensing laws. Plus, you’ll liaise with security, event organisers, and even hold the keys to our fantastic venues when needed. If you don’t have a level 3 food hygiene qualification yet, we’ve got that covered too!
About You
We're looking for motivated, proactive individuals with a knack for customer service and team leadership. As the go-to person on shift, you'll need to prioritise and allocate tasks effectively. Experience in customer service and supervisory roles is a plus!
You'll be interacting with students daily, so a friendly and approachable attitude is a must. We value your feedback and ideas to continually improve our services. Reporting to the Venues Manager, you'll also collaborate with various SUSU departments, so strong communication skills are essential.

Student Roles

Safety Bus Driver
Closing Date: 31/07/2025 12:00
SUSU are searching for friendly, pro-active and enthusiastic individuals to join the Safety Bus Team in May 2025 for cover shifts moving to regular weekly shifts from September 2025.
The Role
SUSU is looking for students who will be 21+ with at least 3 years driving experience to work as Safety Bus drivers. As a Safety Bus driver, you will receive training to drive our diesel and electric vehicles. Shifts start at 7.45pm and vary in duration from midnight to 3am finish.
About You

You must be over 21 years old.

Have over 3 years driving experience.

Be calm under pressure and able to plan out fuel efficient routes.

Good local knowledge is desired but not essential.

Excellent Customer Service skills

Comfortable working late nights and lone working

Technical (Tech) Crew

The Role
Our aim is to ensure that customers receive the best possible experience when attending SUSU events. In this role, you will be providing technical support at SUSU events, creating a safe working environment and helping provide welcoming and informative customer service.
You will also have opportunities to work at SUSU events and activities at different venues in Southampton and Winchester such as St Marys Stadium, the Guildhall, and local venues.
Previous backstage experience is an advantage, but training will be provided. The technical crew are a key part of all SUSU events, and joining the team is a great experience during your time at University.
This is a real chance to make an impact on the student experience at the University of Southampton Students' Union by getting involved in providing fabulous events.
