  2. Set up, deliver and evaluate a wide range of activities
  3. Manage the Sustainability Team

This role sits within the Membership and Community Engagement section of SUSU which exists to develop our engagement with students; enhancing their experience at the University of Southampton by supporting extra-curricular opportunities, providing independent advice and information, and facilitating campaigning for improvements in their lives. All of this involves the closest working relationship with all of our elected officers.

The current departments within Membership and Community Engagement are as follows:

Advice and Representation

  • Supporting the Student life and Education zones and ensuring all our members have access to free accessible support and advice and that all students have access to our leadership and representative opportunities

 The Sustainability department

The new Sustainability department has been created in order to deliver the BEES (Business Ethics and Environmental Students) project and also in relation to organisational change which has led to the creation of 8 zones focused on priority areas of work within SUSU: Education, Sustainability, External Communities, Sport, Student Life, Creative Industries, Democracy and Student Communities.

This newly restructured department consists of a Sustainability Manager and a Sustainability Assistant and will work in partnership with the elected officers to:

  • Deliver the BEES programme
  • Support and deliver the work and activities from the Sustainability Zone as required
  • Be the contact for all sustainability enquiries

All of the above will require an and flexible approach to duties and a willingness to support each other throughout the departments in order to deliver the overall aims of the Membership and Community Engagement section.
