Since the beginning of my term, one of the most common requests from students has been to reopen the Wide Lane bar. Today, I am excited to announce that, following numerous discussions with SUSU staff and the University, the bar is finally ready to reopen! This accomplishment would not have been possible without the strong support of student voices, and I am grateful to everyone who took part in the survey. Your contributions were invaluable in making this happen.The survey, which included a diverse range of clubs and students, found that reopening the pub would significantly increase community engagement, particularly among our sports clubs. Your enthusiasm and support have made a real difference.
But our journey does not stop here. I encourage you all to continue sharing your ideas for building a stronger sense of community among students and improving the Wide Lane bar experience. Your feedback is critical to determining the future of the university’s social scene.Save the date! We will reopen on Wednesday, February 28th, with additional trial days planned. Let us come together, show our support for our clubs and toast the reopening of Wide Lane Bar.
