SUSU’s recent All-Student Vote asked students to vote on whether the University should halt the removal of alumni e-mail accounts to allow time for student consultation. The All-Student Vote needed to achieve a turnout of 10% of all students for SUSU to be given a mandate to lobby the University.
The All-Student Vote was open for 1 week and 3,953 students voted, representing 16% of the total student body. 99.1% of votes were in favour of the University halting the removal of alumni e-mail accounts. We will now be taking the results of the vote to the relevant members of University Senior Management and iSolutions and lobbying them to act accordingly.
Next Steps:
- We need your views to help inform our work with the university to resolve this issue – if you have two minutes, you can share your thoughts with us here:
- We will be holding online and in-person consultation sessions in June with Rebecca (your VP Education & Democracy) and a member of the University team. If you would like to join one of these, please visit https://forms.office.com/e/bZLmQUsJgu to let us know which session you would like to attend.
- There will be a dedicated session for PGR students to give you a chance to share your specific concerns directly with the university. We will be contacting PGR students shortly with the details of this session.
As we lobby the university on your behalf, we’ll keep you posted on the @susu_studentvoice Instagram, and send any bigger updates via email. We know this issue is very important to students – thank you again for making your voice heard!
