Why vote for Aman?
Hi, I’m Aman Khatarkar, a postgraduate student at the University of Southampton. I’m standing for Vice President Inclusion because I want every student, regardless of background, identity, disability status, language, finances, or confidence level to feel they belong here and can fully take part in university life.
Inclusion isn’t only about policies. It’s what happens in lectures, group work, societies, sport, part-time jobs, and everyday campus spaces. Many students still face barriers: hidden costs, inaccessible events, unclear support routes, cultural isolation, and not knowing who to ask for help. If elected, I will work to make SUSU more welcoming, more accessible, and easier to navigate.
If elected, I will make support simpler and more visible by improving signposting so students can quickly find the right help, especially international students, disabled students, carers, and those facing financial pressure. I will work to make events accessible by default by encouraging clear accessibility information on event pages, quieter options, inclusive timings, and practical adjustments that help more students attend. I will champion affordability by promoting low-cost and free events, widening access to support, and helping clubs reduce hidden costs so participation doesn’t become stressful. I will ensure representation that listens and acts by meeting regularly with student groups and communities, turning feedback into visible actions, and sharing clear updates on what changed, what’s in progress, and what still needs work. Finally, I will strengthen belonging by supporting initiatives that help students connect, especially those who feel isolated, through peer-led communities, collaboration between societies, and welcoming campus activities for newcomers. I’m practical, organised, and action-focused, and I’ll work across communities to deliver improvements students can feel in daily life. If you want a SUSU where inclusion is real, measurable, and consistent, I’d be grateful for your vote.
