Why vote for Olawale?
I am standing for Vice President of Inclusion because I want every student at the University of Southampton to feel represented and able to fully participate in student life.
As a PhD researcher and an active member of the University community, I have worked closely with students from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and lived experiences. I understand that inclusion goes beyond policy; it is about access, visibility, well-being, and creating environments where students genuinely feel they belong.
If elected, I will work to strengthen inclusion across SUSU by ensuring student voices, especially those from underrepresented and marginalised groups, are meaningfully involved in decision-making. I will actively collaborate with liberation networks, societies, and University services to address barriers faced by students and turn feedback into practical action.
I am particularly committed to improving communication and engagement so students know what support is available and how to access it. I will advocate for inclusive events, accessible spaces, and fair representation, and hold SUSU accountable for upholding its values of equality and respect.
I believe effective inclusion requires listening, consistency, and approachable, proactive leadership. I will be visible, open, and responsive to students’ concerns, and I will work tirelessly to ensure SUSU reflects the diversity and strength of our student community.
As Vice President of Inclusion, I will lead with empathy, integrity, and action, working with students, not just for them, to create a Union where no one feels excluded or unheard.
