Why vote for Uzair?

I’m excited to run for Vice President of Education because I’ve experienced both sides of university life, and I genuinely want to help students maximize their academic journey.

To be honest, in Semester 1, I didn’t seize every opportunity like I should have. Like many students, I underestimated the transition to university, goofed off a bit, and learned the hard way how quickly things can get overwhelming. But that experience really shifted my perspective on how I approach my studies. Since then, I’ve become much more intentional about my academics, my time management, and the opportunities that are available to us.

I’m studying Engineering, which definitely comes with its fair share of challenges and pressure. On top of that, I train in MMA, which has instilled in me a sense of discipline, consistency, and the ability to perform even when things get tough. Juggling both has really pushed me to grow up fast and take charge of my own progress.

I’m a friendly and approachable person, and I want students to feel at ease when discussing academic concerns — whether it’s about teaching quality, clarity in assessments, or support systems. Moving forward, I also want to dive deeper into societies and academic communities because I believe that getting involved outside of lectures is crucial for student success and wellbeing.

As VP Education, I’d make it a priority to listen to student feedback, collaborate closely with staff, and advocate for practical changes that truly make a difference. I don’t want education to be just something students endure — I want it to be an experience they actively engage with and truly benefit from.
