Why vote for Liv?

I am nominating myself for SSPC Department President because I want to strengthen the relationship between students and the department, ensuring that student perspectives are clearly represented and meaningfully acted upon. Throughout my time in the department, I have engaged closely with students across Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology, gaining a clear understanding of the issues that shape their academic experience. This has shown me how important accessible communication, timely support, and consistent representation is for students.

If elected, my priority would be to create a more transparent and responsive channel between students and staff. I want to ensure that concerns are raised early, feedback is communicated accurately, and students feel confident that their experiences inform departmental decisions. I would also support the development of academic and professional opportunities that help students build confidence, connect with others on their course, and engage with current issues linked to our disciplines.

My experience coordinating communications and organising strudent-focused activities has strengthened my ability to manage responsibilites, present information clearly, and work collaboratively. I would bring these same skills into the role of Department President.

Above all, I want students to feel heard, included, and represented. I am committedd to supporting an environment where students feel able to contribute and where their input shapes how the department develops.
