Why vote for Nikola?
For the past 2 years, I've been an ECS Course Rep, making your voice heard, acting on your behalf, and holding staff and the department accountable. Through this time I've got to know some wonderful reps, and truly seen how representation and standing for what is right positively impacts our school.
I have a proven record of hard work - I worked from day 1 as a strong representative, emailing staff whenever an issue arose. I worked extensively to fix the IP problems this year. I won an award at the SUSU Academic Awards twice in a row, and I was the president of the biggest society on campus - ECSS - which was nominated for "Society of the Year". My experience in Committees and as a Course Rep allows me to work with everyone and ensure people are held accountable.
My main points as ECS President would be to ensure the smooth transition to the new academic calendar and that students are properly informed about the changes, and push for all resources to be moved to Moodle - for COMP and ELEC. Supporting students through the length of your degrees is essential to me.
I will work for a strong, diverse and engaged community - other schools host their own orientation and study help sessions, but also organise "Buddy" schemes for Freshers, who are paired with older years. Students' opinions should shape the future of the department - a future where everyone belongs.
