Why vote for Tiya?
Hello! I'm Tiya, and I’m running to be your next Economics Department President. After having the privilege of being Course Representative for Economics (Joint-Honours) first year students, I’ve seen first-hand the challenges that students face — from limited revision resources to lack of early awareness of Spring Weeks and internships.
If elected, I want to focus on practical changes that make a real difference and improve the student experience, both academically and in future career opportunities.
First, I will work to bring more career-focused opportunities onto campus, including employer talks, networking events, and panel sessions with firms and alumni. This will give students the chance to gain advice, ask questions and better understand different career paths.
Second, I will push for a lecture resources initiative, working with staff to improve access to clear revision materials, recorded content where possible, and more structured support ahead of exams.
Through my experience as a Course Representative and as a student navigating Economics, I understand how important clear communication, strong teaching support, and accessible academic resources are to student success. I want to make sure feedback is not only heard, but acted on to improve the academic experience for everyone.
Real feedback. Real impact. Tiya
