Why vote for Liyi?
Hi, I'm Liyi. I'm a first-year Accounting and Finance student, and I'm running for Trustee. I actually care about how money is spent, especially when it's not my own. Back in Shenzhen, I helped run a tech fair with a ¥3,000 prize budget. I had to compare prices on different platforms, put everything into Excel, and make sure we didn't overspend. It wasn't a huge amount of money, but it taught me something: when you're responsible for a budget, you check everything twice. I'm already volunteering here in Southampton at the British Heart Foundation every week. Front till, talking to customers, handling transactions. I see how a charity operates from the inside. It's not just big decisions but the small daily stuff that adds up. That experience has made me careful and honest with money. So what kind of Trustee would I be? Honestly, the kind who reads the papers before meetings. I'm not going to show up and pretend I know everything. But I will do my homework. I will ask questions when something doesn't make sense. Not to be annoying — because that's literally what Trustees are supposed to do. I'm not here to make big speeches or build my CV. I'm here because someone needs to actually pay attention. SUSU handles a lot of money and makes decisions that affect thousands of students. I think that deserves someone who takes it seriously. I won't skip meetings. I won't say yes to things I don't understand. And I won't pretend to be someone I'm not. I'm not the loudest person. But I'm careful, I'm responsible, and I'll show up. If that's what you want in a Trustee, vote for me. Thanks for reading.
