Why vote for Jasmine?
Hello, my name is Jasmine, and I want to be your School of Geography and Environmental Science Student President for next year!
Having been the Year 1 BSc Geography/BSc Physical Geography course representative for the current academic year, I have experience gathering information from students, may that be concerns, positive feedback or general qualms, and giving this to the staff in SoGES to make it more suited to all. I brought up a concern for the clarity on the types of questions that were to come up in exams, especially for younger modules without past papers. As a result of this, the school has asked convenors with exams to introduce specific sessions on question types relevant to their modules.
With a proven record and a strong passion to improve the lived experience for all members of the School of Geography and Environmental science, I can bring positive change within this school, and reinforce the systems already in place that are working. As well as this, I want to improve the understanding of younger year students of what to expect in their next years, being specific to Physical Geography, Human Geography and Environmental Science.
Geography and Environmental Science are incredibly interdiciplinary subject, so I'd like to open up even greater understanding of the careers that Geography can lead into, from land surveying, to migration studies, to law!
Though only in the 1st year now, I have a wealth of ideas, and hope to continue serving the SoGES students as Student President!
