Why vote for Olawale?

As a Postgraduate Research student within the Social Sciences, I understand both the opportunities and challenges that come with research-focused study. From navigating funding and conference opportunities to ensuring our voices are heard at an institutional level, I recognise the importance of strong, consistent representation.

I am standing for Social Science Postgraduate Research Officer because I want to help create a more connected, supported, and responsive environment for PGR students. Too often, postgraduate researchers can feel overlooked compared to taught students, particularly when it comes to communication, wellbeing support, and access to funding opportunities. I want to work to change that.

If elected, I will prioritise improving communication between PGR students and the University, ensuring that key information—such as funding opportunities, training, and events is clearer and more accessible. I will also advocate for greater transparency and fairness in areas such as conference funding and research support, so students feel confident planning their academic development.

In addition, I want to strengthen the sense of community among Social Science PGR students. Research can sometimes feel isolating, so I will support initiatives that bring students together, whether through academic collaboration, networking events, or informal peer support spaces.
