Why vote for Tawshipa?

Hello! My name is Tawshipa Jarin, and I am running to be your Department President for Aeronautics and Astronautics. My experiences include serving as a course representative for the past two years, as General Secretary of the Engineering Society, and as Vice President of RAeS YPC Solent. Furthermore, I have been a SUSU Senator and have completed several internships at the university, which has enabled me to efficiently communicate student concerns to academic staff and help initiate real changes.

As I will be in my third year next academic year, I will be in a unique position to bridge the gap between all student levels — from first years to final-year MEng students. I will work closely with course representatives across all years to keep feedback channels active throughout the year, instead of only during Student-Staff Liaison Committee (SSLC) meetings.

As a course representative, I have gained a strong understanding of the kinds of problems students face throughout the academic year, and I will work alongside other course reps to help address them. Even small solutions, such as using thick-tipped markers on whiteboards to make writing visible in large classrooms, can make a real difference.

If elected, I will focus on ensuring course representatives are well-supported and motivated, while also making departmental communication more inclusive and effective. I want to make the Aero-Astro student experience the best it can be!

Vote for me so I can make your voice heard!
