Why vote for Jacob?
Over the course of my university journey, I have served in a variety of roles to give back to the Southampton community, such as being an Ignite e-mentor (part of Widening Participation), student Co-Designer and serving in departmental panels. I would appreciate the opportunity to serve as a trustee at SUSU as it would allow me to take my experience working for the university and apply it at a larger scale at the Union, giving me an opportunity to give back more to the university community that I have been a part of for the last 3 years.
Through my work as a student co-designer, I have gained a significant understanding of university policy which is essential for accurately contributing to trustee meetings. By covering topics from accommodation to communities, I have a thorough understanding of student life and the needs of students which I can apply to this role.
I also have gained the technical abilities needed for the role. By completing relevant modules with both the Southampton Business School, the School of Mathematical Sciences and the Department of Economics I have gained the essential skills needed to understand the work of a trustee in the required breadth the role requires.
In summary, if I am chosen as your trustee I will serve the board to the best of my abilities drawing on my experience from across my three years at Southampton. I believe I will be able to meanigfully contribute to discussions of the board, providing my individual viewpoints and those of the wider student body.
