Why vote for Joe?
The role of LCL Department president is rooted in clear communication, efficient organisation, and a strong representation of students of all years. I feel that I am a friendly, approachable guy who is always willing to listen to fellow students and help them out. I am adaptable, confident and always put in my best effort when faced with any challenge. Through my current role as BA Year Abroad rep I have developed key organisational skills, such as collecting feedback from students and presenting it at SSLC meetings whilst adapting to a five-hour time difference, which I believe make me a suitable choice. A few ideas I have include implementing more student-ran activities, such as a Year Abroad universities and British Council meet for 2nd years who are choosing where to go, closer work alongside the committees of LCL student societies for greater visibility within the department, more student-lecture feedback surveys for the best possible experience for both parties, greater welfare and academic support for freshers, and more opportunities for LCL students to engage with international students visiting the university to share the Southampton experience. I also want to hear your ideas as well, so I would invite you to send me an email or stop me for a chat if anything you want to see in LCL comes to your mind. Thank you very much for reading what I have to say, and have a lovely rest of your day!
